மாசி மகம்
விஞ்ஞானத்தில் பௌர்ணமி அன்று பூமி சூரியனுக்கும் சந்திரனுக்கும் இடையில் வரும் என்றும் அன்றைய நாளில் மனித உடலுக்கு சக்தி அதிகம் என்றும் கூறப்படுகிறது.
அன்று கடலுக்கும் சக்தி அதிகமாகி கடல் அலைகள் வழக்கத்தைவிட அதிகமாக பொங்குகிறது என்பதையும் நாம் அறிவோம். விஞ்ஞானரீதியாக மட்டும் அல்லாமல் ஆன்மீகரீதியாகவும் பௌர்ணமி மிகவும் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த நாளாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. ஒவ்வொரு மாதமும் பௌர்ணமி ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நட்சத்திரத்திலேயே வரும். மேலும் அந்த நாளில் வரும் பண்டிகைகள் அந்த நட்சத்திரத்தின் பெயரிலேயே கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
மாசி மாத பௌர்ணமியுடன் கூடிவரும் மக நட்சத்திர நாளே மாசிமகம் ஆகும். எல்லா மாதங்களிலும் மகம் நட்சத்திரம் வந்தாலும் மாசி மாதத்தில் வரும் மகம் நட்சத்திரம் மட்டுமே பெருமை பெற்றதாகத் திகழ்கிறது. இதையே வடநாட்டில் “கும்பமேளா” என்று கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள். பன்னிரெண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒருமுறை வரும் மாசி மகம் “மகாமகம்” என்று வெகு சிறப்புடன் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
பொதுவாக மாசி மாதமே சிறப்பான மாதம் என்றாலும், மாசி மகத்துக்கு மிகவும் சிறப்பு என்ன என்றால் அந்த நாள் எல்லா தெய்வங்களுக்கும் சிறப்பான நாள்.
உயர் படிப்பு படிக்க விரும்புபவர்கள், ஆராய்ச்சி செய்ய விரும்புபவர்கள் இந்த நாளில் தொடங்கினால் சிறந்து விளங்கலாம்.
மாசிமக நாளில் அம்பிகையை குங்குமத்தால் அர்ச்சித்து வழிபடுபவர்களுக்கு, இன்பமும் வெற்றியும் தேடி வரும்.
- இந்நாளில் புண்ணிய ஸ்தலங்களைத் தரிசிப்பதும், புண்ணிய நதிகள், தீர்த்தங்களில் நீராடுவதும் பாவங்களை போக்கும் என்பது ஐதீகம். நதி, கடல், குளம், புண்ணிய தீர்த்தங்கள் போன்ற இடங்களில் தர்ப்பணம், பிதுர் கடன் செய்வது நன்மை தரும்.

Scientific researches say that during the full moon day, the earth comes in between the sun and moon and the humans’ energy increases on that day. We all know that even ocean becomes powerful and the waves are larger than usual.
Full moon day is considered very auspicious spiritually also. Every month Full moon day comes on a particular star and the festivals are called by the name of the star.
In the month of Maasi, the full moon comes on the day when the star is Magam. Even though Magam star comes every month, the Maasi Magam is considered very special. Maasi magam that comes once in twelve years is celebrated as “Mahamagam”. In the North, people celebrate the same as “Kumbamela”
Although the month “Maasi” is very auspicious, Maasi Magam is even special because that day is auspicious for all the deities.
- It is the day when Lord Shiva released Varuna Bhagavan from curse.
- According to Puranas, Mata Uma Devi (Parvathi devi) manifested as daughter of Dhakshan on this day.
- It is said that Muruga Peruman did the upadesam to Lord Shiva on this day.
- Mahavishnu manifested as Varaha and brought back the earth from the Paathala Lokam on this day.
- Also, Maasi Magam is considered as the star for our ancestors.
Thus Maasi Magam is considered a very auspicious day.

- தந்தைக்கு முருகன் உபதேசம் செய்த நாளும் இதுவே.
- மஹாவிஷ்ணு வராக அவதாரம் எடுத்து பாதாளத்தில் இருந்து பூமியை வெளியே கொண்டுவந்த நாள் மாசி மக நன்னாள்.
